How do I fix thin lines between print dies on the Callisto Printer?

Use the Die Alignment tool in Calibration Profiles to correct narrow light or dark lines that appear at die seams.

The Callisto printer uses 14 stationary print dies with overlapping nozzles between each adjacent pair. This overlap—called die alignment—is factory calibrated to create smooth transitions between dies.

If alignment drifts slightly, you may see a thin light or dark line at a die boundary. This can be corrected using the Die Alignment tool within the printer’s Calibration Profiles.

Watch the video below for a full walkthrough of the die alignment process.

Important: Die alignment is directly related to printhead height. Adjusting one may require adjustments to the other.

Adjusting Die Alignment

  1. On the Operator Panel, navigate to:
Support Tools → Maintenance → Calibration Profiles

  2. Use the dropdown menu to select the calibration profile you want to adjust.

  3. Select the Die Alignment tab.

  4. With CMYK Report selected, press Print to generate the CMYK quality report.

  5. Review the printed report to identify the die boundary where a thin line or narrow band appears.

Making Adjustments

For die alignment adjustments:

  • Select the number at the top of the column to adjust all colors at once.

  • It is best practice to keep all color values the same along a die boundary to avoid print defects.

Adjust as follows:

  • Dark line → decrease the value using the down arrow to lighten it.

  • Light line → increase the value using the up arrow to darken it.

  1. Press OK, then Apply and Save.

  2. Print a new CMYK Report and evaluate the results.

Repeat adjustments as needed until the seam line disappears.

NOTE:

  • Die alignment adjustments should be saved within the Calibration Profile for the specific media being used.

  • If alignment adjustments do not resolve the issue, verify printhead height settings before making further changes.
