How do I set up and Install a Floating Server License?

To use our license on a server do the following:

If you don't have FlexLM or the LM Tools on the server
  1. Go to www.neuralog.com
  2. Click on "Support and Downloads" on the green bar
  3. On left side of web page click on "Drivers and Utilities"
  4. In the center of the page at the bottom click on "Licensing and Installation Utilities"
  5. Download "FlexNetFiles.zip"
  6. Once downloaded extract to C:\Drive.... C:\FlexNetFiles
 
Once the FlexLM steps are done (above).....or if you already had it done.....START here:
 
  1. If you have an existing server setup:
  • Replace the old license.dat with the new license.dat
  • If you are setting up your FlexLM
  • Put the license.dat file in the FlexNet Folder and create a BLANK Text file called "NLDebug.txt"
  • Open LMTools
  • Click on Configure Services tab
  • If you already had the service on your server for Neuralog SKIP to steps below...
  • Name the service "Neuralog Service"
  • Input the following below in each of the 3 boxes:
  • Path to the lmgrd.exe file (Based on whether it is 32-bit or 64 bit machine)
    • FOR 32 bit ----->C:\FlexNetFiles\32-bit\lmgrd_i86_n3.exe
    • FOR 64 bit ----->C:\FlexNetFiles\32-bit\lmgrd_x64_n6.exe
  • Path to the license file....(ie. C:\FlexNetFiles\license.dat)
  • Path to the debug log file (ie. C:\FlexNetFiles\NLDebug.txt)
 
START Here for those that already had our products working on the server previously
  1. Open LMTOOLS
  2. On the Service/License File Tab select NeuraLog Service and click on radio button "Configuration using Services"
  3. Go to Start/Stop/Reread tab and Click Stop Server... ReRead License... Start Server....
  4. To verify that it worked
  • Go to "Server Status" tab and click "Perform Status Enquiry"
  • Your report when Scrolling down to the bottom should look like:
Feature usage info:
Users of NeuraView:  (Total of 1 license issued;  Total of 0 licenses in use)......if no one is using the software
(NOTE: The product you have will be in place of NeuraView above)
 
For the NEW machines you want to use a Neuralog product with a server license on do the following:
  1. Install the Neuralog software on the machine you want to use.
  2. Go to computer ("My PC" on Win 10) and then right click on properties
  3. Go to advanced settings on the left side of the screen
  4. Click on the Advanced tab
  5. Click on "Environment Variables"
  6. Go down to system variables section and click "New"
  7. Variable Name = LMGRD.NLI_LICENSE_FILE
  8. Variable Value = port@host (i.e. 1748@servername) (enter the server name that is on the license file)
  9. The click ok....then apply....then ok.....close out of screens
  10. Open the program and it should work.
