How to correct print quality issue on the Callisto using Calibration Profiles?
Use Calibration Profiles to adjust printhead height, die leveling, and die alignment to fix banding and fine lines.
Calibration Profiles allow you to fine-tune print quality for specific media types. If you are seeing banding, fine lines, or inconsistent print, these issues are typically resolved through three key adjustments:
- Printhead Height
- Die Leveling
- Die Alignment
Watch the video below for a full walkthrough.
When to Use Calibration Profiles
Use a calibration profile when you notice:
- Wide horizontal banding
- Thin lines at die seams
- Ink smearing or head strikes
- Inconsistent print quality across media types
Key Adjustments
Printhead Height
- Adjust based on media thickness
- Too low: media contacts printhead (smearing, streaks)
- Too high: loss of print sharpness (“winging” effect)
Die Leveling (Wide Banding)
- Corrects wide horizontal bands (~1 inch tall)
- Adjust entire die (all colors) or individual colors
- Increase value = darker | Decrease value = lighter
Die Alignment (Fine Lines)
- Corrects thin lines at die seams
- Adjust entire boundary (all colors together)
- Increase value = darker | Decrease value = lighter
Best Practices
- Always print a CMYK quality report before and after adjustments
- Make small, incremental changes
- Save settings per media using Calibration Profiles
- Ensure Calibration Profile Override is turned off when adjusting
